R-E-A-D

One of my friends, Yogi, lent me a book that helped me a lot to deal with difficult situations. So as a 'thank you' gesture, I made her this bookmark.

First, the sketch...

Then, the colouring...

And voila!

I used Derwent watercolour pencils for the elements and Camel yellow coloured ink for the background. The outlining was done using a brown ink pen. I usually like to use a brown ink pen to border almost everything I draw to give the artwork a concrete shape. This may not always be a good idea but I think it worked in this case.

Hey very very nice bookmark... would love to know what pen you used.. is it the Sakura Pen? It's waterproof, right? The yellow ink is brilliant :)

Yeah, Shree, the Camel inks are simply brilliant. They surpassed my expectations. All you need is a few drops of ink and dilute it as much as you want to get the right colour.

The brown pen is not of Sakura. It's just a regular pen that dad had bought for me ages ago when I saw some artist using it to give a vintage-y look to their artwork. I'm not sure if the pen is waterprrof. What I did in this case was, I let the paper dry completely and only then used the brown pen on it. :)

Aha got it. Sometimes I feel like drawing something in ink and then filling it in with color. But don't know what pen to use.

BTW.. I'm waiting eagerly for the next update.. quick quick...
